Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

WHAT IS THE OXY-BREATHER?

Designed and manufactured by Oxy-Tech, Inc., the Oxy-Breather is the innovative ‘single sided’ oxygen nasal cannula for people who depend on oxygen and want an alternative to the problematic standard cannula that irritates the skin, restricts movement and can be an embarrassment when worn in public.

The Oxy-Breather’s ‘single sided’ design eliminates 2/3rds of the plastic off the face and gives the user their dignity back.

Exceptionally soft tubing combined with a revolutionary design innovation come together to create the World’s Most Comfortable Cannula.

HOW DOES THE OXY-BREATHER WORK?

To use the Oxy-Breather, first attach the ‘tubing clip’ onto the shirt or collar, front or backside; then place the Earpiece/Support Arm assembly over the left ear; then place the nasal prongs into the nostrils; then adjust the length of the tubing from the ear to the nose by moving the tubing inside the Support Arm for a comfortable fit.

DOES THE ‘SINGLE SIDED’ OXY-BREATHER STAY SECURED IN THE NOSE?

Yes. The Oxy-Breather has an incredibly soft nasal inset scientifically designed to firmly yet comfortably fit in the nose of any size.

The ‘single sided’ Oxy-Breather has an Earpiece and Support Arm assembly that stabilizes the tubing in the nose, therefore avoiding the need for the use of tape when active.

        • Ears – instead of draping tubing behind your ears causing irritation with every motion, we support our nasal cannula with a comfortable earpiece assembly that eliminates most ear pressure;
        • Nose – nasal prongs so thin and soft you’ll forget they’re even in there;
        • Neck – no cinching required!  Your neck remains open and free;
        • Face – find your face again!  Help people to look beyond your tubing and discover your face again.

DOES THE OXY-BREATHER PROVIDE THE SAME FLOW RATE / POX AS THE STANDARD, DUAL SIDED CANNULA?

Yes, Oxy-Breather’s patented technology was specially designed to optimize the flow rate over the nasal turbinates to ensure safe oxygen saturation levels at all times; additionally, the Oxy-Breather’s superior nosepiece design mitigates dryness, nosebleeds and runny drainage.

The nosepiece is manufactured with a specialized process called ‘Hand-Dipping’ – this manufacturing process is a labor of love that offers the softest and most lightweight nosepiece in the world. The hairs inside the nostrils do not get triggered as is the case with the standard cannula that typically causes constant dryness or/and drainage and runny nose.

HOW DOES THE ‘SINGLE SIDED’ TECHNOLOGY COMPARE TO THE STANDARD DUAL SIDED CANNULA?

Studies show testing for ‘blow back’, ‘false triggering’ and ‘flow rate’ were either equivalent or better than the standard cannula outcomes. Yet it is our happy customers experience that says it all, “there is no comparison”.

IS THE OXY-BREATHER MEDICAL DEVICE REGISTERED WITH THE FDA?

Yes, Oxy-Tech, Inc. (OTI) – and the Oxy-Breather single-sided nasal cannula system – is fully compliant with the FDA and every part is manufactured in a FDA-regulated facility with Quality Systems implemented throughout the Standard Operating Procedures.

OTI REGISTRATION NUMBER: 3015547634

WHERE IS THE OXY-BREATHER MADE?

The Oxy-Breather is proudly manufactured and assembled in the U.S.A.

All materials used to make the Oxy-Breather single-sided nasal cannulas are the same materials used by all nasal cannula manufacturers. The super flexible tubing is a medical-grade PVC compound that has passed standard toxicology tests. The adhesive used to bond all connections is the same used by major manufacturers. Like all cannulas, these are not sterile but they are made in a clean environment and all the tubing and fittings are manufactured to the same standards of cleanliness.

WHAT IS THE POSITIVE IMPACT ON CUSTOMERS USING THE SINGLE-SIDED OXY-BREATHER?

The recovery of personal pride and dignity. The impact of the embarrassment from wearing the standard cannula in public can be devastating. Customer testimony relate this painful aspect and how grateful to have found the Oxy-Breather.

Comfort: Gone are the skin rashes, sores and irritations perpetrated by the standard cannula’s toxic plastic tubing.

Freedom: The ‘single sided’ Oxy-Breather maximizes freedom of movement for exercising or out and about, without any restriction from tubing.

CAN THE OXY-BREATHER BE — USED ON EITHER SIDE OF THE FACE?

Coming Soon! Oxy-Tech is developing a Right-Sided version, which will be on the market soon. At present, the Oxy-Breather is Left-Sided only.

CAN THE OXY-BREATHER ‘SINGLE SIDED’ CANNULA BE — USED WITH ALL STANDARD OXYGEN TANKS AND POC’S, INCLUDING BOTH, PULSE AND CONTINUOUS DELIVERY?

Yes, the Oxy-Breather uses ‘Universal’ connector bushings in which all medical oxygen equipment, tanks and concentrators use, whether pulse or continuous flow.

CAN THE OXY-BREATHER BE — USED AT NIGHT?

Yes. The Oxy-Breather is ‘single sided’ allowing the user to sleep without tubing on the side in which they are laying. This ‘single sided’ design prevents any line marks and scaring which is typically caused by standard cannulas.

WHY IS THE OXY-BREATHER MORE EXPENSIVE THAN STANDARD CANNULAS?

It costs more to source the soft, quality materials and components that go beyond the acceptable medical standard of standard cannulas. Once you try the Oxygen-Breather, you will likely find – as have our loyal customers – the higher price is worth it. Moreover, the preservation of dignity and the unparalleled comfort is truly priceless.

HOW LONG DOES THE OXY-BREATHER STARTER SET AND REFILL CANNULAS LAST?

It varies among customers. It can last anywhere from 3, 4 weeks to 2 months. Most customers tell us the Oxy-Breather Starter Set and Refills lasts much longer than the standard cannulas – ranging one (1) to three (3) months longer than standard cannulas.

Tubing and nosepiece will become harder over time. Single-sided nasal cannula replacement should take place when you no longer get the comfort you are looking for or when you require a new and clean cannula to maintain your respiratory health.

HOW LONG DOES THE STABILIZING EARPIECE AND SUPPORT ARM LAST?

The Starter Set includes one cannula and the stabilizing assembly kit which consists of an Earpiece and a Support Arm. Both the Earpiece and Support Arm have been reported to last one (1) year, and in most cases, even longer.

HOW DOES THE CUSTOMER CLEAN THE SINGLE-SIDED TUBING?

The recommendation from Pulmologist and Respiratory Therapist is to replace the standard cannula every other week due to bacteria from runny drainage.

That said, the Oxy-Breather ‘single sided’ cannula can be cleaned easily by placing tube in large bowl and soak with 1 part water, 1 part vinegar, and maybe a touch of dish soap. Leave for 15 minutes and rince. Dry either by hanging to air dry or hook up cannula tube to a tank or concentrator for quick drying.

Be sure to use cotton swabs for drying out the nasal prongs!

DOES THE OXY-BREATHER ALSO FIT COMFORTABLY FOR CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS?

Yes, the Oxy-Breather’s patented design and technology is a one-size-fits-all, and it does so comfortably and securely.
